What does "USB Debugging Connected" mean on Android?
The short answer
It means your phone is plugged into a computer and Android’s developer debugging mode is active.
What is USB debugging?
USB debugging is a developer feature that lets a computer send commands to your phone over USB.
You might see this after you:
- Turned on Developer options
- Enabled USB debugging
- Connected your phone to a PC or Mac
Is this normal?
Usually, yes. The notification is just a status message.
It’s useful for:
- File transfer tools
- App testing
- Advanced phone tools (like ADB)
If you enabled it on purpose, you can ignore it while connected.
How to fix it (remove the notification)
If you don’t need it:
- Open Settings
- Go to Developer options
- Turn off USB debugging
You can also:
- Unplug the USB cable
- Tap Revoke USB debugging authorizations in Developer options
When should you worry?
Be careful if:
- You never enabled USB debugging
- It appears with an unknown computer
- Your phone asks to trust a computer you don’t recognize
In that case:
- Turn off USB debugging
- Revoke USB debugging authorizations
- Restart your phone
- Avoid connecting to public or unknown USB ports
