How to share a Spotify playlist

The short answer

Open your playlist in Spotify, tap the three-dot menu (or right-click on desktop), then select “Share” and choose how you want to send it.

How to share on your phone

  1. Open the Spotify app and go to the playlist you want to share
  2. Tap the three-dot menu near the top of the playlist
  3. Tap Share
  4. Choose how to send it — Messages, WhatsApp, Instagram Stories, Copy Link, or any other app on your phone

The Copy Link option is the most flexible. It creates a link that anyone can tap to open the playlist in Spotify.

How to share on desktop

  1. Open Spotify on your computer
  2. Right-click on the playlist in your sidebar, or click the three-dot menu at the top of the playlist
  3. Hover over Share
  4. Choose Copy link to playlist or share directly to social media

You can also drag the playlist from Spotify into a chat window or email to share it quickly.

How to make sure others can see it

Before sharing, check that your playlist is set to public or at least not private:

  • Go to your playlist and tap the three-dot menu
  • Look for Make public — if you see this option, your playlist is currently private
  • Tap it to switch the playlist to public so anyone with the link can find and follow it

Private playlists can still be shared via link, but they won’t show up if someone searches for them.

Other ways to share

  • Spotify Codes — on mobile, tap the three-dot menu and select Show Spotify Code. This creates a scannable barcode that others can scan using the Spotify app’s search camera
  • Collaborative playlists — invite friends to add songs by tapping the Invite collaborators option in the playlist menu
  • Social media — the share menu includes direct posting options for Instagram Stories, Facebook, X, and more
