How to schedule a Google Meet
The short answer
Open Google Calendar, click “New event,” add your details, and it will automatically include a Google Meet link you can share with attendees.
Schedule a Google Meet from Google Calendar
This is the easiest and most common way:
- Go to calendar.google.com and sign in
- Click the ”+” or “Create” button in the top left
- Add a title, date, and time for your meeting
- Click “Add Google Meet video conferencing” — a meeting link will appear automatically
- Add attendees by typing their email addresses
- Click Save
Everyone you invited will get an email with the meeting link included.
Schedule from the Google Meet website
- Go to meet.google.com and sign in
- Click “New meeting”
- Select “Schedule in Google Calendar”
- Fill in the event details and click Save
This method redirects you to Google Calendar, but it’s a handy shortcut if you’re already on the Meet page.
Schedule from Gmail
You can also start from your inbox:
- Open Gmail and click the Meet icon in the left sidebar
- Click “New meeting”
- Select “Schedule in Google Calendar”
- Add your details and save
Tips for a smoother meeting
- Share the link early so attendees can test their setup ahead of time
- Turn on the waiting room in Meet settings if you want to control who joins
- Add an agenda in the calendar event description so everyone comes prepared
- Check your time zone in Google Calendar settings to avoid scheduling mix-ups
What if you don’t see the Google Meet option?
If the “Add Google Meet video conferencing” button is missing:
- Your Google Workspace admin may have disabled Meet for your organization
- Make sure you’re signed into the correct Google account
- Try using a different browser or clearing your cache
