How to change your PayPal password

The short answer

Log in to PayPal, go to your account settings, then select “Security” and click “Update” next to your password.

How to change your password on desktop

  1. Go to paypal.com and log in
  2. Click the gear icon in the top right corner
  3. Select the Security tab
  4. Find Password and click Update
  5. Enter your current password, then type your new password twice
  6. Click Change Password

That’s it. You’ll stay logged in, but other sessions may be signed out.

How to change your password on the mobile app

  1. Open the PayPal app and log in
  2. Tap your profile icon in the top left
  3. Tap the gear icon to open settings
  4. Tap Security, then Password
  5. Enter your current password and your new password
  6. Tap Save

What if you forgot your current password?

If you can’t remember your current password, you’ll need to reset it instead:

  • On the login page, tap “Having trouble logging in?”
